Big Picture
Many factors are driving our slowing performance. SEPH, a monthly regional survey, reminds us of how much is changing in a short time. The hours charts show the regional disparity. Among the larger eastern provinces NB is showing relative strength.
Looking west, BC is slowing but its relative growth has been impressive.
Although the have recovered, SK is weakening and AB is showing flat employment growth.
Weekly Earnings


Looking at the relative wages for AB suggests that, not withstanding their narrowing premium above the Canadian average, AB works have done well.
Adding earnings shows the relative income by province. AB is doing relatively nicely.


Sectoral wage charts, shown in the detail, suggest the importance of sectoral mix in the provincial picture.

Large Province Employment
The detailed charts shows time series for the larger provinces.


Construction employment is weak or downturning in the larger provinces (p40). The downturn in wholesale employment probably pressages worse ((p44).
Vacancies
The vacancy rate is most sectors are returned to values seen in 2019 (p5) and is stabilizing (p3).
Summary
Things are slowing. Anticipation of policy is probably part of the drag.
